The Mitigation Journal has two weekly versions.
The first weekly episode has 4 segments including:
-Introduction/Opening with listener email questions and comments
-Recent News with reports on recent preparedness news along with commentary by Rick
-Disaster preparedness instruction on the week’s main topic
-Show wrap up and closing with sponsor, and contact information.
The second bi-weekly episode features an in-service training segment for emergency medical services providers (EMTs and Paramedics).

-Each includes anatomy and physiology overviews and references for further study.

Listener Comments and Data
“I started listening with Episode 2 and have kept with the MedicCast since. I'm a computer geek turned EMS geek and so it was no surprise to friends in my ambulance corp that I was listening to your podcast. They made a few jokes here and there until one day I caught a couple of them listening to the MedicCast and they had to admit that they really liked the show and would keep listening. One of them even impressed our paramedic advisor by dropping a fact or two he picked up from your show.”
Daniel Taylor, EMT-B, Search and Rescue (SAR) Tech
“Thanks for this program. I just downloaded your entire set of podcasts and have been listening to them. I have been in emergency services since 1972 and received my Ph.D. in Emergency Management in 2001. It is informative and nice and I like using it as a review to keep my knowledge up to date since I am not in the field and will encourage others to listen to your podcast. Keep up the great podcast.”
Michael Ehrman, PhD, Emergency Management Educator
“As a newly trained EMT-B, I find your podcast an invaluable tool that allows me to "ramp-up" to what is currently going on in the EMS community. Thank you for a wonderful podcast, because of it, I feel that I will be better prepared not only with current information, but with perhaps just a bit better understanding of what it means to be an EMT. Thanks for a great learning aid.”
Joshua Fagan, EMT-B, American Medical Response, Texas
