Tip of the Week Poisonous Gases Interview with Lisa Booze of the Maryland Poison Center (http://mdpoison.com)
Substances like regular household chemicals can emit gases and fumes when stored or used improperly. When inhaled, these poisonous gases can damage the body, usually the respiratory and nervous system. In some cases, toxic gases are odorless and colorless, and symptoms only appear after it has circulated into the body.

In responding to situations related to inhalation of hazardous gases, EMS providers should be aware of necessary respiratory precautions to protect them from inhaling the substance themselves. Determining the toxic gas that was inhaled can also help in institution of necessary interventions for victims such chemicals.

In this interview with toxicology expert Lisa Booze of the Maryland Poison Center, she will be talking about poisonous gases as well as what to do in case of a similar event.
