MedicCast Episode 480

Good day and welcome to this week’s episode of the MedicCast. I’m your host, Jamie Davis the Podmedic and I’d like to welcome you to this week’s show. We have three more special segments from EMS Today for you again this week, all recorded in the Physio-Control booth at the conference back in the end of February.

First up we talk with EMS10 Awardee and innovator Doug Hooten who literally wrote the book on mobile integrated healthcare. Then in two follow-up segments from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians or the NAEMT. They want to tell you more about two of their upcoming events supporting EMS on a national level. Check them out coming up in just a sec.

All of these segments this week were recorded thanks to the continuing support and sponsorship of the Physio-Control corporation. Thank them for supporting your EMS podcasting community.

EMS Tip of the Week: Mobile Integrated Healthcare – The Book

mobile integrated healthcareComing up first this week is a look at EMS 10 Awardee Doug Hooten from Medstar Mobile Healthcare who has literally written the book on Mobile Integrated Healthcare, sometimes called by me and others community paramedicine. It doesn’t matter what you call it, Doug has helped to break down what EMS systems need to do to innovate and integrate their system with the local healthcare systems of care in a way that benefits the patients and all healthcare parties involved. Check out this interview from the Physio-Control booth at EMS Today 2016.

The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians or NAEMT is your representative in Washington, DC. They are responsible for communicating the needs of EMS to our national leadership in Congress. Every year, the NAEMT hosts EMS on the Hill Day where you are invited in to learn how to talk with your lawmakers about issues important to you and EMS as a whole. Check out this first of two segments where Matt Zavadsky and Rob Luckritz join me. This time we talk about EMS on the Hill. Here it is.

Next up is the second of two segments on behalf of the NAEMT to talk about their upcoming EMS Transformation Summit that seeks to educate those in town for EMS on the Hill about what is going on with Mobile Integrated Healthcare. Matt Zavadsky and Rob Luckritz join me again to talk about the summit and what you could learn if you attend it coming up later this month. Check it out.
