Kicking off the news this week is a look at a different kind of news item. I found an excellent video recently via one of the MedicCast Facebook fans. The Lee County Pit Crew Resuscitation Model video shows an excellent example of coordinated pit crew CPR from 911 call to resuscitation and transport.
Post Training Videos Online for Everyone
I particularly like this video because it’s not only a great example of the type of training video that any system can make and upload for in-house training and review. It’s also a great example of a video that can be used for community outreach.
The video starts out with two guys sitting on a couch and one of them goes into sudden cardiac arrest. They call 911 and the first to arrive fire department engine crew shows up with an AED and begins the process of CPR and delivering a shock. ALS crews eventually arrive and add their skills to the mix, but the CPR, the BLS never stops, they just add on to the existing progress with the patient.
I urge you to head over to the MedicCast and check out the YouTube link in the show notes for this video. Watch it. See what you can do to do something similar or use it for training on your own. Kudos to the team at Lee County, Florida EMS and their medical care council there.
If you have a video or something like this to share, make sure you send it to me. I love getting email and links to potential news items from you all so keep them coming in!
