MedicCast Episode 395

Greg Friese

Greg Friese

Good day and welcome to this week’s episode of the MedicCast. I’m your host, Jamie Davis the Podmedic and I’d like to welcome you to this week’s show. First up, in this week’s EMS news items we’ll take a look at recent data that says that 1 out of 10 U.S. adults dies from an alcohol related cause.

Then in this week’s tip of the week I have a special discussion for EMT and Paramedic educators and students about best practices for live online EMS education. We are joined by noted EMS educators Greg Friese and Rom Duckworth to talk about that. That’s all coming up later on in this episode after the news.

Before we get to that though, please make sure you check out the links and additional information available for you over at the MedicCast blog at MedicCast.com/blog. Take some time and make sure you follow up on the information you get on the show and understand how it applies to your EMS practice and protocols.

Tip of the Week:  Best Practices for Online EMS Education

Rom Duckworth

Rom Duckworth

In this episode of the MedicCast, I have a special discussion with noted EMS online educators Greg Friese and Rom Duckworth. Greg reached out to me recently and asked if I would facilitate a discussion with he and Rom about best practices for live online education.

There are several regular webinars and other live video EMS training sessions out there but do they make an impact and achieve the goals they are aspiring to? In this discussion for EMT and paramedic educators, we talk about respecting an attendee’s time, making use of the technology, preparation and more.

Greg is a frequent guest here on the MedicCast and is the former host of the EMS Educast. He is the Director of Education for CentreLearn.com. Rom is a long time paramedic and EMS educator who conducts regular training via online channels. Here’s that discussion.
