MedicCast TV host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic, was joined at EMS World Expo by National Association of EMTs (NAEMT.org) President-Elect Don Lundy and CLIR-EMS (CLIREMS.org) President Gary Wingrove to talk about EMS safety and reporting. The EMS Voluntary Event Notification Tool (E.V.E.N.T.) is a tool designed to improve the safety, quality and consistent delivery of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). It collects data submitted anonymously by EMS practitioners.
E.V.E.N.T. is a program of the Center for Leadership, Innovation, and Research in EMS (CLIR) with sponsorship provided by the North Central EMS Institute (NCEMSI), the National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA), the Emergency Medical Services Chiefs of Canada (EMSCC), the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO).
EMS providers like EMTs and paramedics can report an event by going to EMSEventReport.com and select the type of event they would like to report. All reporting is anonymous. The information is used to improve the safety of EMS systems in the U.S. and around world. Overall, the E.V.E.N.T. site with data collected hopes to develop a culture of safety across emergency medical services.
