Tip This Week — Pediatric Airway Management Skills Station

Research shows that, on average, only 13% of prehospital patients are children. Different procedures are done to adults everyday but providers rarely perform invasive procedures to children. With such limited actual experience, it is easy to see how real-life proficiency in these procedures is difficult, if not nearly impossible, to maintain.

This week’s tip gives providers a step by step review on how to manage pediatric airway. This discussion provides the different skills stations to be performed during the NREMT testing for pediatric airway management. Emergency medicine providers can refer to the links below for more information on the pediatric ventilatory management skills station and tips on how to manage respiratory arrest in children.
