Listener Jerry Barrett, an Australian paramedic and longtime listener and supporter of the MedicCast sent in another great article he has written on self defense in EMS and other medical professions.

Jerry has a background as a tactical medic in an elite special forces unit and is now working covering a rural area of Australia.  Jerry also educates other EMS professionals and medical personnel on a variety of topics.

ISR Matrix Self Defense for EMS

In his most recent article shared here with the MedicCast listeners, Jerry looks at various self defense techniques taught by ISR Matrix of Australia.  ISR stands for Intercept, Stabilize, and Respond.

While many self defense classes teach various techniques, Jerry points out that most are based on martial arts systems that require constant practice and training to become and maintain proficiency.  This does not make them good options for non-specialist self defense.
