Pics and Impressions from EMS Today 2010

I finally got around to looking at the photos I had taken at EMS Expo on Friday. Unfortunately, I didn’t have anyone to snap photos on Saturday but the best of the Friday pics are great.

I’m going to try and identify everyone but if I missed you or need to add someone’s link, email me or comment below and I’ll fix it. (Podmedic-at-mac.com)

Friday’s Podcasts

Friday's podcast at EMS Today

The Friday episode of the MedicCast podcast recorded at EMS Today 2010. Joining me were Mary Newman from the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, Amy Turley – creator of the Turley Backboard Pad, James Weber from the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association. We talked about sudden cardiac arrest and public access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs), followed by a discussion on therapeutic hypothermia led by Amy Turley.

Amy from Zoll having fun

This podcast was generously sponsored by Zoll, Inc. and their soon to be released software/hardware integration solution RescueNet Link.  Their product expert, Amy came by to talk about what RescueNet Link will do to change the game in EMS software/hardware integration in the field. Show your thanks and visit Zoll.com/mediccast.

Meet the Bloggers

Meeting some EMS/Fire Bloggers

Some of the EMS and Fire blogging elite stopped by to check out the shows. I was very honored to meet them here and later at the Blogger/Podcaster meetup that night. I know I’m going to forget someone so let me know and hold my feet to the fire to add them to this post later.

In this photo I got to meet Rhett Fleitz (AKA Fire Critic), Kelly Grayson (A Day in the Life of an Ambulance Driver), John Mitchell (Fire Daily blog), and Chris Montera (EMS Garage).

Justin Schorr "Chronicles of EMS"

I also met Justin Schorr (Happy Medic), one of the stars of the Chronicles of EMS series. I’ve talked with Justin on the EMS Garage podcast before so it was great to meet him in person.

Mark Glencorse "Chronicles of EMS"

Another of the stars on my bucket list for EMS Today show was Mark Glencorse (UK Medic 999) and the other star of “Chronicles.” He’s just as funny in person as he is on the podcasts but he is also an amazing spokesman for EMS providers all over the world.

David Konig, me, and Chris Montera

I also got to meet David Konig, a leader in using social media with emergency services. He and I were the guests on the second half of the EMS Garage podcast.

Saturday’s Podcast

I didn’t have any photos from Saturday but my guests on the show were Kees Verkerk from our sponsors, Physio-Control, Tom Bouthillet from the Prehospital 12 Lead ECG blog, Tim Phalen (I’m NOT worthy) from ECG Solutions, Angel Burba from Howard Community College in Maryland, and Rory Putnam from Northern Essex Community College in Massachusetts.

A special thanks to Physio-Control for their sponsorship of the shows on Saturday. It is the visionary support of the new media in EMS like our podcasts and video programs that is providing the impetus for us to continue to serve as a point of coalescence for the best and brightest in EMS.

Did I Miss Someone?

Some of the other EMS social media dignitaries I met (but don’t have proof in pictures) are:
