Trauma, Your EMS Movie Stars

2

If you’re expecting something useful for the field.  Something relevant to saving someone’s life.  Some trick or tip maybe.  Well, you better look somewhere else.

This is about a new medical TV show coming out and guess what occupation the main characters have.  No, they aren’t doctors.  No, they aren’t nurses.  No, they aren’t massage therapist, but I could sure use one.  They are PARAMEDICS.  You see those are people who drive around in ambulances or maybe fly in helicopters.  They provide medical interventions on site to help save lives.  Heard of them?  Ya, I thought you might.  Oh, and the show is called Trauma.

Here’s a summary of the first episode.  MCI happens, emergency medicine is done, post MCI EMS personnel try to deal with their emotional issues and shockingly have a hard time of it.  The end.

Well at least I think that’s the end.  I couldn’t find too many reviews so I don’t know if it really will be any good.  The preview looked cool though.

The show airs Monday 9-28.  Don’t ask me what time for you because I’m not your personal TV guide.  Figure it out for yourself.

Are you going to watch it?  Are you going to make sure they are practicing BSI?  Are you going to critic their IV poke?  Are you going to be secretly checking out Anastasia Griffith or Taylor Kinney or both (to each their own!)?

Yes you are going to watch and it’s ok.

Tell your significant other that you’re just making sure it’s accurate.  Ya, that’s it.  Tell them that you just want to make sure no one messes it up.  Sound good?  OK, now you can watch and they’ll never know it’s because you wanted to see what paramedic movie stars look like! Well besides what you look like in the morning right?!? Enjoy.

So they must have some real EMT’s advising for the show. Where do they find them? You should contact them and interview the professional’s who work with the show – that would be pretty cool.

I’m excited about this show because it’s given us the opportunity to join together and watch as an EMS community on Monday night.

Some of the other EMS podcasters like Greg Friese, Chris Montera, and myself are going to be recording a live streaming commentary and chatroom session over our talkshoe.com site http://mediccastlive.com.

We’ll follow the live premier of the show with a discussion on how much they got right with call-in questions and comments from you – the listeners.

Join us on Monday night at 9 PM ET (8 CT) at http://mediccastlive.com while you watch on TV.
